5311 Grant Funding History • The USC 5311 grant was established to provide transportation in the “other than urbanized areas.” • The grant money is awarded on a 50% match. Alachua County used the monies paid to provide the Route 75 to meet the 50% match • Alachua County has FY07-08 funds and in the amount of $190,000 • FY08-09 funds ($207, 417) and FY09-10 funds ($ 219,635)need to be allocated ASAP. There is a risk Alachua County losing these funds
5311 Grant Funding History • RTS desires to apply for those funds and use it for services outside City limits • RTS services will use these funds for: • New route 23 • Purchase demand response trips for citizens of the rural area • Other potential uses: • Park-n-ride shuttle service when route 23 is funded by SFC Transportation fee
