Electromyography Intensity and Push Rim Moment Analysis in Wheelchair Propulsion

This study investigates the relationship between electromyography (EMG) intensity and push rim moment across various shoulder muscles during wheelchair propulsion at different velocities. The EMG data were normalized to percentage of maximum voluntary isometric contraction (%MVIC) and aligned with kinetic data (Mz), representing propulsion moments. The analysis highlights transitions between push and recovery phases, with detailed mean and standard error representations for muscle activation over multiple subjects. Insights from this pilot study will inform rehabilitation practices for wheelchair users.
