Embracing Indigenous Perspectives: A Transformative Approach to First Nations Education

DESCRIPTION

This work highlights a new approach to First Nations education, focusing on Indigenous needs and cultural integration within public education. It examines the stark disparities in achievement metrics while challenging the conventional narrative that centers on helping Aboriginal people “fit” into society. Instead, it proposes a collaborative model built on mutual respect, showcasing key initiatives like Youth Forums and the FNMI Liaison Committee. By re-engaging youth through culturally relevant methods, we can achieve meaningful educational outcomes and foster dignity and hope in Indigenous communities.
