Request for Change of Goals • Prior to this 2010 we did not need to report the percentage of successful mediation due to low numbers (> 10) • Goal was arbitrarily set at 100% • FY 2009(3) = 66% FY 2010(14) = 93% FY 2011(9) = 89% • Federal accepted range is 75-85% (can be listed as a range) • We would like your approval to reset goal to Federal Recommended Range for 2012
What’s New in the Office of Dispute Resolution? • Four new Hearing Officers were hired and trained • Pared down mediator list from 21 to 12 keeping most experienced and quality mediators to do more mediations • Hired a Lead Hearing Officer to bring consistency to Hearing Officer process and serve as a resource • Selected as one of seven states to join the CADRE Intensive Workgroup for Facilitated IEP Systems • State goal is to improve local capacity in improving IEPs statewide. • Desire to work with parent organizations (IPUL) to train district • personnel and parents on how to hold effective IEP meetings.
