North Bristol NHS Trust • Provides hospital and community healthcare to the residents of Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset • A regional centre for neurosciences, plastics, paediatric burns, orthopaedics and renal • As the largest hospital Trust in the South West, we have 9,000staff across Southmead and Frenchay Hospitals and the local communities.
North Bristol NHS Trust • Each year • Over 250,000 patients treated • 6,000 babies born • 93% of patients say they are happy with their care they received • 5,500 patients and carers write compliment letters each year.
Schools Liaison Programme • Aim • To provide opportunities for local people to gain knowledge of roles within the health service • For them to consider these roles as possible career choices for the future
Schools Liaison Programme • Ambassadors providea range of activities • Work Experience from year 10 • Pathways into Medicine Conference • Tours • Careers Event • Curriculum linked workshops • Talks • Mock Interviews • Documents • Scenarios
Application Process • Work Experience • Email tina.alner@nbt.nhs.uk to request work experience • Application pack sent to applicant • Receipt of application, acknowledgement letter sent • 6 weeks before placement, invite for informal interview • Informal interview conducted plus visit to placement • Placement is confirmed by letter at this time • Work experience placement commences as planned • Evaluation of placement completed by student
Application Process • Workshops/Career Events/Mock Interviews etc, • School /College contact the Education Business Partnership (EBP) • EBP contact NBT Schools Liaison Administrator (Tina Alner) • 6 weeks minimum is required to process application of an event • All Ambassadors in the Network are contacted and they offer their support • Schools Liaison Administrator contacts the EBP with our offers • EBP contacts the Schools and Colleges • Final arrangements then made directly with the school/college coordinator
