On March 18, 2005, during the opening session of the LCWS05 workshop at Stanford University, I officially accepted the position of Director of the Global Design Effort (GDE), which was yet to be formed. The GDE represents a significant collaborative initiative aimed at advancing global research and design efforts in science and technology.
