  9. What is Common Core State Standards (CCSS)? • Nationwide educational standards to help students become ready for college or career. • Approved in 48 states and territories • Currently implemented in a few states • Training in most states currently

English Language Arts and Mathematics • Science is currently being developed • Many states aligned (or in process of aligning) current curriculum with new standards • If your state isn’t in the “list” maybe not adopted yet or already similar – check your state’s DOE website • Subscribe to your state’s DOE email list for updates

  18. How can this help us with schools and libraries? • Mention it in library meetings • Set up meetings with grade level reps • Public libraries • Gives us credibility

  19. How can this help us with Home Parties? • Helps moms pick out books for their children • Don’t need a copy of the list with you • Just let them know we are aligned and we can help you pick out appropriate books for their child • Homeschooling families will appreciate • Get leads for schools
