  4. Teaching Skills Workshop • Attend Teaching Skills Workshop (18 hours) • Practice Teaching strategies • Collegial participation and sharing • Implement a “Check for Understanding” • Share frustrations and possible solutions • Video taped lesson delivery w/constructive feedback

  5. Classroom results to expect • Whiteboard with key discussion topics • Various “Check for Understanding” • More Breakout sessions – Less Broadcasting • More Critical thinking questions • Attempt to engage non-participants- ASAP

Results – Lower Attrition • More Students seem to be focused on a Goal! • Students have expressed willingness to successfully complete “Irrelevant” courses • Students reduce class loads to focus on success and improving GPA/Certification • Students to come to me with complaints • Students offer ideas/suggestions ie: New classes – program needs • Students start asking about University Transfer Programs – Goal has shifted!

  17. My Classes have High Retention • 30% will succeed regardless of your efforts • 30% will fail regardless of your efforts • Developing strategies for that 40% can impact retention data. • Using D.E. portal for supplemental is a big benefit for ALL students • I feel effective!
