  20. Steps to Configure Dorado V3 Optional Go to UniSTAR eCFG/SCT. Select a product model. Dorado5000 V3 or Dorado6000 V3 or Dorado18000 V3 Select new or expansion. Newly built or expansion project. If you select expansion, the system prompts you to input the SSD capacity on your field network. Select controller quantity. 2 or 4 or 6 or 8 controllers(Dorado6000 V3and Dorado18000 V3 supports 6 or 8 controllers) Select a controller enclosure. Select front-end expansion I/O modules. The smartIO I/O modules supports TOE function on V3R2C00 version, which unloads the protocol prasing from CPU and improving the performance of iSCSI network. The smartIO I/O modules supports immediate function on V3R2C00 version,in which do not configures a separate 8G FC card (supporting the immediate function) for Active-Active solution on the new deployment project page, however, it still configure the separate 8G FC card for the V3R1 Version on the expansion project page.

  29. Other Precautions (2) • Controller enclosure: • Dorado18000 V3/Dorado 6000 V3: Controller enclosures must be selected based on memory specifications. When four or six or eight controllers are deployed or more controllers are added, the two controller enclosures must have the same CPU and memory specifications. • Dorado5000 V3: Controller enclosures must be selected based on disk types (SASor NVMe) and onboard front-end interface modules. • SSD: • Two newly deployed controllers must have the same SSD capacity and accommodate 8 or more SSDs in initial configuration. • Four coffer disks must have the same capacity and be placed in slots 1 to 4 of the first enclosure in the first expansion loop. • On the same disk domain, it does not support mixed configuration of SSDs with different capacities on new project page. It supports only 2 different capacity configuration on expansion project page and the expansion SSDs is larger than existing SSDs capacity. • On the different disk domain, there are no restriction. • Not support mixed configuration with 900GB/1.8TB/3.6TB and 960GB/1.92TB/3.84TB/7.68TB/15.36TB SSDs. • Not support mixed configuration with encrypted and unencrypted SSDs. • When exceed 2 controllers are new deployed, the disk type and quantity of each pair of controllers must be the same by default, and it also supports modified to inconsistent on different enginee by manaual, in which it can not create disk domain cross different engine. • It is recommended to synchronize the same number/capacity SSDs for each dual-control synchronization when multi-control expansion : if the Disk Domain crosses the engine, each dual-control synchronization is required to expand the same number/capacity SSDs; if the Disk Domain does not cross the engine , can be manually modified to be inconsistent for each dual controller.

  30. Other Precautions (2) • Cabinet: • Dorado18000 V3 supports delivery by bay, including Huawei and third-party bays. • There are totally two system bays without disk bay • Interface module: • Each controller of Dorado18000 V3 allows five interface module, Dorado6000 V3 allows a maximum of six SAS interface modules. On Dorado5000 V3 (SAS), each controller allows configuring of only two SAS interface modules. Dorado5000 V3 (NVMe) does not support configuring of the disk expansion module. • Dorado5000 supports 8G FC/16G FC/10Gb ETH/10Gb FCoE onboard, 32G FC/25GE supported by extended smartIO card, 40GE/100GE supported by extended IO card; all front ends of Dorado6000 and Dorado18000 are supported by expansion card; • When exceed 2 controllers are deployed, the two pairs of controllers must be configured with the same front- and back-end interface modules (same type and quantity). • Ensure that the interface modules are added toexceed 2 controllers of Dorado in pairs and that the type and quantity of added interface modules are the same. • The Dorado18000, Dorado6000, and Dorado5000 V3 (SAS) are based on a dual-uplink SAS network and each pair of SAS cards provides a maximum of two disk enclosures. The Dorado5000 V3 (SAS) enhanced version uses a single-uplink SAS network, and each pair of SAS cards provides access to four disk enclosures • SAS cable: • By default, disk enclosures are not configured with SAS cables. • The maximum number of expansion levels in a loop is 1. Two disk enclosures cannot be connected with each other • By default, the configurator places one two-controller (four disk enclosures) or four-controller (eight disk enclosures) storage system in the same cabinet. If they are different cabinets, the configurator notifies field engineers to select proper SAS cables (5 m or 15 m).

  31. Other Precautions (3) • PCIe switch module: • Only when Dorado is configured with exceed 2 controllers, each controller is configured with a PCIe switch module. Each PCIe switch module is configured with two AOC cables. • Expansion: • When Dorado expands capacity, it needs to investigate the V/R/C version number of the current network, and select the corresponding version in the configurator according to the current network version. • The C00 version can only be expanded to dual control,only expand the same SSD. • The Dorado5000 C01 Version can be expanded to dual controllers, the Dorado6000 C01 Version can be expanded to 4 controllers, and both of Dorado5000 and Dorado6000 supports 100 SSDs per dual controllers. • When the C01 versions expansion, the disk type and number must be the same for each dual control • A system of version C01 and later supports an SSD with capacity larger than that on the live network. The system automatically calculates the recommended number of SSDs.During capacity expansion, enter the number of existing SSDs on the live network in Existing SSD. The system automatically calculates the recommended number of SSDs to be expanded.

  34. 1. Selecting Engines and Interface Modules Specify the configuration type. Select two controllers or four controllers. This is the cache size of the two-controller layout. Configure a SmartIO (8 Gbit/s FC) card.

  35. 2. Selecting SSDs, Back-end SAS Interface Modules, and Disk Enclosures Select disks based on site requirements. The quantity of SAS interface modules is calculated automatically according to the disk quantity. The quantity of disk enclosures is calculated automatically according to the disk quantity.

  36. 3. Selecting Installation Materials, Auxiliary Devices, and Software Select installation materials and auxiliary devices based on project requirements. The quantity of optical fibers is calculated automatically according to the quantity of selected optical ports. Select software based on site requirements. Then, the corresponding basic software package is automatically generated. Device management, thin provisioning, LUN migration, system report, and eService are included in the basic software package.

  37. 4. Selecting Services Note: Devices have a 3-year warranty by default. Select in-warranty upgrade based on customer needs. Other options can be selected based on project requirements. Note: The software service warranty is at least 3 years long (because hardware has at least 3-year warranty). The effective duration periods of software and hardware services must be the same, either 3, 4, or 5 years. Note: Select the implementation service based on project requirements. If the engineering service is selected, Huawei sends engineers to the site to perform installation.
