The Educational Framework • Key Goal for Participants in BBYO • BBYO participants will be confident about their Jewish identity, connected to Israel and the global Jewish community, and committed to leading others and improving the world. • Three Core Outcomes • Identify: Strengthen Jewish Identity • Feel confident questioning and integrating into one’s life Jewish principles about G-d and Torah, history, traditions, and culture. • Respect diversity within the Jewish community and in the world. • Use leadership skills to help others develop their own Jewish pride, connections, and commitment. • Connect: Create Jewish community • Have caring and respectful relationships with Jewish peers. • Understand the role that Israel plays for the Jewish people and around the world. • Promote the inclusion of all Jews into a pluralistic Jewish community. • Improve: Change the world • Understand current social issues. • Use Jewish values to guide involvement in service, philanthropy, and advocacy. • Use leadership skills to mobilize peers around social issues.

Use leadership skills to help others develop their own Jewish pride, connections, and commitment. Big Ideas Public speaking skills. Learn how to organize a group and delegate. See roles for people who aren’t on chapter board. Gain ideas for JServe projects. Activities Basketball game Tent-building game Community organization scavenger hunt Panel of regional graduates

  6. A Great Teen Example… We want to bake challahs to sell to local families… Ask probing questions to help them develop their goals. Why do you want to bake challahs? Because the organization we want to give money to provides support for Jewish families looking to have their own Shabbat dinner, so challah seemed like a good idea. And why do you want to support that organization? Because we want teens to recognize the value of a Shabbat meal and how it can help solidify a Jewish identity. This also lets us do some community service while we teach our friends about this great local organization.
