Schizophrenia is a complex mental disorder that affects perception, thinking, emotions, and social functioning. Individuals may struggle to distinguish reality from imagination, think clearly, respond emotionally, and act appropriately in social situations. While the exact causes remain unclear, genetic factors are believed to play a role. Treatment typically involves antipsychotic medications to balance brain chemicals, accompanied by support therapy to enhance social skills. Schizophrenia Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that makes it hard to: Tell the difference between what is real and not real; Think clearly; Have normal emotional responses; Act normally in social situations.
Causes Experts are not certain about what causes schizophrenia but it is believed that genes play a role in the development of schizophrenia.
Treatment • Antipsychotic medicines are the “most effective treatment” for schizophrenia as they change the balance of chemicals in the brain and can help control symptoms. • Support therapy may be a helpful alternative for schizophrenics as it teaches behavioral techniques, such as social skills training that will allow the person to function better in social and work situations. Job training and relationship-building classes are also important.
Preventions Schizophrenia cannot be prevented!!!!!!
