This week's bellwork activities are designed to deepen understanding of ionic compounds and their properties, as well as electron configurations. Starting Monday, students will state two properties of ionic compounds. On Tuesday, they will explore grouping chemicals from their experiments. Wednesday's task involves writing the electron configuration for phosphorus and identifying valence electrons. Thursday will focus on identifying groups of elements with stable electron configurations, while Friday will examine what the numbers on the sides of the periodic table represent, beyond just rows and columns.

Bellwork 20 3/19 – 3/23
Monday, March 19 • State two properties of ionic compounds.
Tuesday, March 20 • In what ways could you group the chemicals in your current experiment?
Wednesday, March 21 • Write the electron configuration for phosphorous and circle the valence electrons.
Thursday, March 22 • What group of elements have a stable electron configuration?
Friday, March 23 • What do the numbers down the side and across the top of the periodic table represent? • (Not rows and columns or groups and periods)
