  3. Early life Her mother, Monica, was an accountant Her Father, Ronald Fenty, was a warehouse supervisor. She is the youngest of three. She has two brothers, Rorrey and Rajad Fenty. Her parents divorced when she was 14. Rihanna attended Charles F. Broome Memorial School, a primary school in Barbados, and then the Combermere School, where she formed a musical band with two of her classmates when she was fifteen. In 2004 she won the Miss Combermere Beauty Pageant. She was also an army cadet in a sub-military programme that trained with the military of Barbados.

  4. An early recording life • Rihanna moved to the United States at the age of 16 to carry on with a recording career under the care of record producer Evan Rogers. She then signed a contract with Def Jam Recordings and became famous.

  6. Chris Brown and red hair • In 2009, Rihanna’s previous boyfriend Chris Brown, was arrested for beating Rihanna while they were going out. A picture of Rihanna was leaked onto the internet from Los Angeles police department TMZ, the picture showed her face battered and bruised after the beating. Chris Brown was sent to prison and when he was bailed out, had a restraining order and was to stay at least 500 feet away from Rihanna. The limit has been reduced by half in the last year. • In late 2010, Rihanna dyed her hair colour from black to red. She said she felt like a change, and red felt like the colour to change it to. Critics have slated her new style and gave up when Rihanna did not react. Rihanna said that that was her aim.
