What is a Blog or Weblog? • A blog is a “easily created, easily updateable website that allows an author(s) to publish instantly to the Internet from any Internet connection.” (Richardson, 2006) • A blog gives you the ability to create links between your ideas and supporting resources on the web. • Blogs connect readers enabling them to comment on and question content published in the blog.

  5. What Can Blogs Be Used For?Administrative Uses • To discuss issues before or after meetings. • To share what is happening in your school. • To connect with others to share ideas and discuss issues. • To share links to relevant information. • To create school web pages.

  6. How to Create a Blog • Sign up for a blog with one of the blog hosting services. • Click on the “Create a Blog” tab. Choose a name and blog address and check for availability. Choose a template. • Start publishing. Add pictures, videos, links, etc…

  9. What is a Wiki? • wiki wiki– Hawaiian for quick • A wiki is a quick, easy way to write and publish content which anyone can edit anytime. You can set privacy guidelines so only invited members can edit. Also you can revert back to previous versions of wiki pages if you want to undo an edit.

RSS Feeds and Aggregators • Aggregators allow you to subscribe to the feed of a blog, newsgroup, podcast, etc… and view updates to the feeds you subscribe to. • An aggregator can also search for new content that is posted to the internet. • Your feeds can be updated if you are getting too many or too few posts.
