Night Zone Ltd • Manufacturers of Beautiful Handmade Unique Wooden Flickering Tea Light Holders • As part of our first year mini-company we decided to produce unique flickering tea light wooden holders made from teak and red deal in carved shapes. We had a brainstorming session in class and we named our company “Night Zone Ltd.“.

  3. The Company • The company was set up in October by two first year students : Dylan Keating and Kieran Cleaver. Choosing Our Idea • We came together and we started thinking about all the different things we could make or services we could sell. • We had a lot of different ideas but we eventually decided to make unique wooden tea light holders. We would use a battery powered tea light to make the product a safer, yet decorative option for our customers.

Results of Questionnaires • We found from the questionnaires we sent out that holders would be a good seller at Christmas so we began by producing the wooden tea light holdersfor the Christmas market. • We sold the tea light holders with flickering tea light insertto the teachers in our school, parents at the first year open night and local residents at the school show.

  7. Innovation We produced unique handmade wooden tea light holders with a battery powered flickering tea light insert of good qualityand design. Our product worked well because we had a market outside of the school and so this increased our sales. Our tea light holders wereadmired by the judges for their Uniqueness and for our Creativity.

Conclusion • We really enjoyed setting up our mini-company and it was a really good experience for us competing in the county and national finals. • We enjoyed making and selling the tea light holders, making posters to advertise our productand setting up stands at our school open night, and at our school show. • If we enter the Student Enterprise Awards this year we will organise ourselves better at get up and running sooner.
