  1. Cosmetics Centered Around Holistic Health- The Mindful Beauty Initiative Did you know the cosmetic industry has been relying on parabens to increase the shelf life of skincare and makeup products since the 1920s? Undoubtedly almost all beauty products use some kind of preservative to make their products last longer, and parabens are one of them. Sustainable organic alternatives such as coral lipstick and unscented body wash and shampoo have become best- selling alternatives to paraben-enriched products, but do you know why you should consider staying away from parabens? Dive in to find out!

  2. What are parabens? Parabens primarily belong to the family of chemicals commonly used as preservatives in cosmetics. They prevent the growth of harmful mold and bacteria while prolonging the shelf life of the products. Some of the most common parabens used in the cosmetic industry include: •Methylparaben •Propylparaben •Butylparaben, and •Ethylparaben If you are still wondering why you should go for paraben-free makeup, let’s understand how parabens affect the human body. They may interfere with the production or activity of hormones in the endocrine system. They may cause reduced fertility and an increase in some diseases, including endometriosis and some cancers. Other human health concerns include reproductive abnormalities and early onset puberty. Exposure of infants and fetuses to endocrine disruptors can affect the developing reproductive and nervous systems and organs. Additional concerns include changes to the nervous system and immune functions. Studies from California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco found that methylparaben (as well as the chemical BPA, used in food can linings and other applications) can not only cause healthy breast cells to behave like cancer cells, but also interfere with the effectiveness of tamoxifen, a critical drug used in the treatment of breast cancer. The FDA continues to monitor research data about parabens and their effect on human health. However, till a conclusive picture emerges, mindful consumers may benefit from choosing paraben-free skincare. Paraben-free products- Why should you care? Parabens are associated with hormone disruptions and consumers should be careful about their long-term effects. As scientists continue to study the impact of parabens, it is advisable to minimize their use to prevent potential issues. Also, for some people with dermatological conditions or sensitive skin, a patch test is recommended before using paraben-infused products. Undoubtedly reaction to paraben is rare, but some people also have paraben allergy that can lead to irritation, redness, itching and inflammation.

  3. Consumers need to be conscious about what goes into their products. Organic, vegan ingredients are gentle on your skin and they don’t lead to any atrocious aftereffects. In today’s cosmetic landscape, beauty must be synonymous with wellness. Mindfully check the label to find out what goes into making a skincare product and do a patch test to find out if your skin agrees with it. Or, you can any day decide to switch to all-natural products that feel no less than bliss on your skin while rejuvenating it from the core. The bottom line Change begins at home. If you want paraben and sulfate-free products on more aisles in the market, you need to start the change from your home. Sustainability is a long-term commitment, and instead of regular products, you can always go for paraben-free cream concealer, makeup, and other skincare products that are more sustainable and better for the environment. In the beauty industry, some of the hardest working ingredients are naturally derived. Do you want to eradicate the use of chemicals in your beauty stash and choose paraben-free products organically sourced from nature’s best-kept secrets? Check out the collection at Coastal Classic Creations now and switch to products that are kind to both your skin and the environment.
