  3. Structure of Presentation of websites of NSOs and CIS-STAT (1/1) • At present all the websites of the CIS national statistical offices (NSOs) and the website of CIS-STAT are at different stages of the development and were created in various ways. • The websites of the NSOs of some CIS countries have in their structure the bases of statistical indicators which support user design database queries and exports of data into standard formats. The websites of the NSOs and the website of CIS-STAT do not have the developed databases of statistical indicators and display information only by means of addressing the links of corresponding headings of list of indicators with a possibility of display of information on a computer screen in the form of tables, images or text messages which makes it difficult to collect most up-to-date information automatically or manually from the website. • There are differences also in the structure of information presentation on the websites of the NSOs ( for example, in the degree of nesting of the same thematic sections of the websites in relation to the main page). 3

The Process of Creation of Web-Portal of CIS-STAT (2/1) • Creation of CIS-STAT’s Web-Portal should be carried out on the basis of common logic of display of information and common principles of its presentation to the users being informed in the field of statistics to a various degree. • To harmonize the Web-Portal with the web-sites of NSOs it is necessary: • to create and use at a later stage the database of statistical indicators common for all CIS NSOs, which will enable efficient and comfort access to statistical information by CIS countries for all groups of users of the NSOs websites; • to create a “question-reply” type of feedback module to enable the targeted reference to the disseminators of statistical information; • to find out and update the websites based on the obsolete technical platform; • to create a friendly common integrated system of statistical data presentation to the users which will enable to transform the website of CIS-STAT into interactive platform of data communication and sharing. 4

The Process of Creation of Web-Portal of CIS-STAT (2/2) The Project of creation of Web-Portal of CIS-STAT will start with a survey conducted among all CIS national statistical services in the process of which: -  questions will be asked on the ongoing and planned activities in that respect; -  the survey will also enquire about the software and other instruments that countries have recently implemented or are about to implement. Then, a common discussion of the results of the survey will be organized with the participation of all CIS countries that accept to embark in the Project. The development objective of the Project is to provide an easy and understandable access to statistical information by CIS countries, its presentationin a unified accessible format with summary (estimated and forecast)data for the Commonwealth as a whole on the basis of interactive cooperation of the CIS statistical community. 5

Results of the Project on the Creation of CIS-STAT’s Web-Portal (3/1) • The Project results are expected to be: • solution of selected problems of CIS-STAT’s Web-Portal creation, improvement of the CIS NSOs websites, their harmoniztion with the Web-Portal of CIS-SAT; • elaboration of new structure of CIS-STAT’s Web-Portal, modern platform of its functioning, updating of CIS-STAT’s website design; • formation of the common database of statistical indicators for the specialists of CIS-STAT; • presentation of convenient instrument of forming queries on the Web-Portal for statistical information output from the database; • creation of mechanism of automatic collection of statistical data submitted by the NSOs to CIS-STAT in accordance with the list of indicators for interstate exchange, as well as collection of statistical data from official websites of the NSOs, international organizations and other websites; • formation of on-line bank of training materials on statistics on the Web-Portal of CIS-STAT to support the spread of professional knowledge in the field of statistics in Russian. 6
