  4. 3-5 students in groups – develop & deliver a health promotion education session Align direct delivery & establish collaborative environment Numerous priority settings Agreed sharing – processes, lectures, tutorials, mentoring by agencies, funds QIPPS (quality improvement program planning system) enabler in each HP element Method - How Champion speakers presenting

  5. 28 groups - education sessions Physical activity, food security & nutrition, mental health & social connectedness - settings 4480 hours of Planning and Delivery Evaluation Increased capacity and future application of HP in nursing - rural Linkages across sectors and professions Preceptor growth in mentoring Workplace learning environment Value to broader community 3 years of adding value

  6. Communication – part time staff - Initial relationship imperative Miss match - expectations Limited preceptor capacity and understanding Students over achieving Waning commitment – a partnership requires ongoing vision and strong drivers What missed the mark

Conclusion • Sustainable partnership – across sectors in merging effort • QIPPS – enabler for quality HP strategy • Proven to enhance local health outcomes and practice • Adds value to existing initiatives – synergy of effort • Stimulates professional skills in working collaboratively • Demonstrates platform for education of future rural workforce – using a social model of health

Recommendations • Enhance opportunities for student practicum • Find local HP champions – align • Establish workplace culture of learning • Invest in pre-planning – curriculum • Ongoing commitment in partnerships • Study the impact of this approach to nursing outcomes over time 2009 – 72 students in 14 groups
