Paraphrasing / Summarizing • Identify information that may be difficult to understand. • Identify difficult words and find simple synonyms. • Look for ways to rearrange sentences. • Re-write the information incorporating your changes from steps 2 and 3. • Re-read the paraphrased information to make sure the meaning has not changed. Paraphrasing / Summarizing • Try it! • You’ll need: • A text book • Paper you can turn in • Something to write with • Paraphrase the first 15 lines of The Odyssey as they appear in your text book. Read Write Speak Listen
