  2. Why Ebooks? 1- I love ebooks (just my personal plug) 2- Convenience: Going on vacation? Take your Nook, Kindle, or Smartphone, etc. with you, and load up your device rather than your arms whether its 1, 10, or 100 books. 3- I temper this to say that while the ebook becomes more popular, and libraries give their consumers access to ebooks without cost so they don’t have to purchase them from the likes of Amazon or Barnes & Noble, that we should not lose sight of the physical book itself. 4- Don’t have a device like a Kindle or a Nook, but have a Smartphone with the ability to download apps, well look no further, you have an ereader.

ELibraryNJ 1- Compatible with such e-readers as Android, Ipad, Iphone, Ipod Touch, Kobo, Kindle, Literati, Nook, and Sony Reader. 2- As of May, 2012, there were over 5,000 ebooks available, mostly popular fiction and nonfiction, and recent bestsellers. 3- As can be the case, items in high demand will have waiting lists, so feel free to place a hold (up to 5).

  9. How Do I Download an Ebook? (1) 1- Navigate to www.elizpl.org and click on the logo for ELibraryNJ.

  10. How Do I Download an Ebook? (2) 1- Click on the ElibraryNJ logo at the top center of the screen.

  11. How Do I Download an Ebook? (3) 1- You can enter a title or an author in the search box, and click enter or the magnifying glass.

  12. How Do I Download an Ebook? (4) 1- Note that there are options to filter your search results down the left-hand side of the screen. 2- Click on the title of a book to view availability.

  13. How Do I Download an Ebook (5)? 1- Click on sign in for availability in the center of the screen to check if the title you want to download is available.

  14. How Do I Download an Ebook (6)? 1- From the drop-down menu, click the down arrow to navigate through the New Jersey Libraries which have ELibraryNJ. Navigate to and click on the Elizabeth Public Library.

  15. How Do I Download an Ebook (7)? 1- Enter your library card and pin in the spaces provided. 2- Click on sign in.

  16. How Do I Download an Ebook (8)? 1- Note on the right-hand side of the screen that there are copies available against how many copies the library “own”. 2- Click on borrow to “checkout”. 3- The checkout length for the item will be listed below the borrow link.

  17. How Do I Download an Ebook (9)? 1- Clicking on the link for download (select one format) will give you the download options for the item. 2- Check the format you wish to download your item within, and click confirm & download. 3- Note that the expiration date & time for the item are listed. You can also confirm the checkout limit, the number of titles you have checked out, and how many checkouts remain.

  18. Frequently Asked Questions 1- You may checkout up to 5 items at a time. 2- Items are checked out for either 7, 14, or 21 days. 3- There are no overdue fines. 4- You can place a hold on up to 5 items at a time. Once a hold becomes available, you will be notified by email and will have 3 days to “pick up” the item.
