  2. First Day of Christmas – Mistletoe Madness Problem:Too much fun under the mistletoe at your holiday party? Solution:Soak for an hour in warm water and a combination of dish detergent and laundry detergent. After an hour blot (DO NOT rub), with a clean cloth. Wash on warm cycle in washing machine.

  3. Second Day of Christmas – Eggnog Fog Problem:Did someone bump into you, spilling eggnog on your favorite Christmas sweater? Solution:Soak in COOL (warm water will actually cook the eggs!) water and detergent for 30 minutes. Wash on cool cycle. Inspect stain before drying.

  4. Third Day of Christmas – Candy Cane Pain Problem: Oh no, you’ve just discovered you’ve been walking around with a candy cane stuck on your behind! Solution: Rinse with warm water and wash according to care label.

  5. Fourth Day of Christmas – Cookie Chaos Problem: Holiday baking with food coloring has left your prized tablecloth stained. Solution: Blot stain with hydrogen peroxide and cotton ball and clean according to label.

  6. Fifth Day of Christmas – Freaking Fruitcake Problem: Aunt Frieda’s famous fruitcake became ground into your oriental rug. Solution: Sprinkle flour onto stain to soak up excess grease and vacuum. If stain persists, spot treat stain with cloth and warm water.

  7. Sixth Day of Christmas – Caroling Crust Problem: While caroling around your neighborhood, your leather boots become overrun with unsightly salt stains. Solution: Mix one tablespoon white vinegar into one cup water and dab stains with a damp cloth.

  8. Seventh Day of Christmas – Turkey Terror Problem: Your relative spilled Grandma’s gravy on your brand new carpet! Solution: Use a detergent solution by mixing one teaspoon of clear dishwashing liquid with one cup of warm water.  Make sure the water is not hot. Blot dry with paper towels.  Re-soak and re-dry area until the gravy has been removed from the carpet.

  9. Eighth Day of Christmas – Scary Skirt Problem: Your tree has dropped its sap on your family heirloom tree skirt! Solution: Create a mixture of one cup liquid laundry detergent and a few drops of ammonia (using caution). Soak the item in the mixture for at least 30 minutes. Rinse the item followed by a normal wash. Repeat the process if necessary. Dry only after the stain has been removed.

  10. Ninth Day of Christmas – Tainted Tablecloth Problem: Your white linen tablecloth is covered in red rings from your wine glasses. Solution: Sponge the spot with cool water or soak for about 30 minutes in a basin of cool water. Pre-treat the stain with a pre-wash stain remover. Wash the items according to the care label. Repeat if necessary. Dry only after the stain has been removed.

  11. Tenth Day of Christmas – Wax Woes Problem: You knocked over your hurricane lamp, spilling red candle wax onto the carpet. Solution: Spread brown paper (such as grocery bag) or a terry cloth towel over the area and iron with the setting on warm. The wax will be absorbed into the paper or towel. Move towel frequently and repeat until there is no more transfer of wax.

  12. Eleventh Day of Christmas – Santa’s Soot Problem: While starting your holiday fire, you became masked in chimney soot. Solution: Pre-treat the stain with a pre-wash stain remover. Wash the item according to the care label. If the stain remains, sponge with rubbing alcohol and wash the item again. Dry only after the stain has been removed.

  13. Twelfth Day of Christmas – Yucky Yams Problem: While eating your aunt’s famous yams you dribbled some onto your blouse. Solution: Wipe off excess. Flush under cold running water to loosen the stain. Treat the stain with a pre-wash stain remover. Wash as usual. Repeat if necessary. Dry only after the stain has been removed.
