  1. Welcome! Year 2 to Year 3 Transition!

  2. Year 3 teachers 3G – Mrs Gibson LSA – Mrs Clark & Mrs Campbell 3F – Miss Faux LSA – Miss Rae ‘Lowers’ = Year 3 and Year 4. Key Stage 2 • Child has finished Key Stage 1 (Infants) SAT’s in Year 2 and then Year 6. • Now child enters Key Stage 2 (Juniors) which takes them through to the start of secondary school (Key Stage 3).

  3. Assessment • Pupils assessed in ‘Bands’ which are supposed to correlate with the year group i.e. Band 3 = Year 3 • Child friendly Reading, Writing and Maths targets shared throughout last year, will continue this year.

  4. About Year 3 • New gate in morning. Same gate when leaving! Arrange a regular spot to stand in to make this easier. • Houses – competitions in houses. • No free fruitfor Junior children. • Healthy snacks • Water bottles • Lunchtime is now 12:20 – 1:15 • Spelling groups

  5. Curriculum • New Curriculum: • English • Maths • Science • PE • RE • MFL - French • Computing • PSHE • History • Geography • Design and Technology • Art • Music • Phonics/Spellings – Start of year • First theme - ‘Ancient Egyptians – Tomb Raiders’

  6. Homework • Reading at home every day is vital (Homework policy!) Reading targets = 5x per week. • Reading books and Homework Diaries.

  7. Homework • Spellings – Weekly • Maths- Multiplication Tables – Weekly tests. • Access to Times Tables, Purple Mash, Rockstars & Tootoot. • Other work will be informed by letter/school comms.

  8. Equipment • Children love pencil cases! One please. Regular size too please! • P.E. kits – trainers too! (No HUGE bags please!) • Please clearly name all clothes and equipment.

  9. Volunteers in the Classroom • Listening to children read – see Teacher & see Mrs Walsom re paperwork. • Best times usually afternoons. • Where to work – Library or corridor (garden if lucky!)
