  2. Alex in Belarus It was -16° and Alex’s home had no running water or toilet. Alex’s mum Olga cares for the elderly in their community and Alex loved his shoebox! He said he’d like to be a fireman when he grows up, but then he looked at his shoebox and said "No, I want to be President, so that I can be kind to people!”

  3. Dani in Romania • Dani is 6 and lives in an orphanage in Romania. • His shoebox was given to him in hospital. • He loved his Spiderman and gave it a big hug, he couldn’t stop hugging it! He also loved the Spiderman note book in his box!

  4. Ana-Maria in Transnistria Ana-Maria is raising 4 children. She lives in extreme poverty & they are often homeless. She heats their small home with firewood or plastic bottles. Receiving these gifts was an experience these children will never, ever forget. Our partners returned with firewood and a commitment to help Ana-Maria and her wonderful children.

  5. Eduard in Kosovo “I love the toys and sweets but mostly I like to have my own personal toothpaste!”

  6. 4 kids in Swaziland These boys are 2 of 4 kids who live in a ramshackle hut in Swaziland.They cannot go to school because they don’t have birth certificates but they will bring their new copybooks and pen to an informal school set up near their village. They were overjoyed with their shoebox gifts and couldn’t believe everything was for them!

  7. Dani in Belarus • “When we arrived at the centre for special needs children in Belarus little Dani ran up to me, arms flung wide open, and as I knelt down, he gave me a big hug and a kiss!” • A special volunteer in Monaghan had given me some hats for shoeboxes so I gave him a bright green one as it was -15 ° that day!"

Liviu in Romania • Inside Liviu’s shoebox he found a toy truck and was delighted, then he found this gorgeous card ‘For Someone Special, from Chris & Linda’, he felt so special receiving this card. Abandoned by his mum, Liviu is looked after by his grandmother. She was with him and you could see her love and pride she showed for him.

  9. What do we do then… “We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It's easy to say "It's not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem." Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.” -Fred Rodgers

  10. What can I put in my box? • WRITE some things to write with • WASH some things to wash with • WEAR some things to wear • WOW! Some things to go ‘wow’ at ! Don’t forget the €4 to help us to get the box there!

  11. What can I put in my box? • Write Items for school – Pen pencil, sharpener, eraser, copy book, paper, colouring book, felt pens, solar calculator

  12. What can I put in my box? • Wash Some things to wash with – toothbrush, toothpaste, facecloth, comb, soap (wrapped), hairbrush

  13. What can I put in my box? • Wear Some things to wear – hat, gloves, scarf, mittens, flip flops underwear socks

  16. Your shoebox gift will be given into the hands of a child in need, irrespective of their race, religion, ethnicity or background. The only criteria for receiving a shoebox is the need of the child. Thank you for making a difference !

TeamHope • is an Irish, Christian development aid charity • When Team Hope started delivering shoeboxes to needy children in Eastern Europe and Africa, they realized that those children had a lot of problems. • Some had no food • Some couldn’t go to school • Some didn’t even have clean water to drink • So Team Hope now work to support communities • in all of these ways and more!

  18. Team Hope in Action • Through our Christmas Shoebox Appeal we recognised many struggles faced by the communities we visited. With this knowledge, we have been able to work with our partners to help in the most needed ways in each country.
