Job Description • Registered Nurses do all of the duties including treating patients, educating patients and the public about medical conditions, and giving emotional support to patients’ family and friends.
Education and Training • Students must graduate from an approved nursing program and pass a national licensing examination known as the NCLEX-RN, in order to obtain a nursing license. You must have a bachelor’s science degree in nursing (BSN), an associate degree in nursing(AND), and finally, a diploma.
Salary • Median annual earnings of registered nurses were $52,330 in May 2004. The middle 50% earned between $43,370 and $63,360. The lowest 10% earned less than $37,300, and the highest 10% earned more than $76,760. Nursing care facilities in May 2004 were about $48,220.
Job Outlook • Job opportunities for all RN’s are expected to be excellent. Since there is so much disease in this world, the employment of registered nurses is to also expected to grow much faster than average for all occupations through 2014, and because the Job is very large, many opportunities will result.
Why did I choose this Job? • I chose this job for many reasons. The first reason would have to be because of all of the people who need care and medical attention. There is so much disease in our world, and it is up to nurses to help reduce the risk of disease spreading around the world. I would enjoy every second of my job because I know that I’m helping every one I can.
