  2. History of Novocain • German Chemist Alfred Einhorn was researching a non-addictive anesthetic to use on soldiers wounded in battle. He used the basic cocaine molecule. It was perfected on November 1905 until he made procaine later to be called Novocain.

  4.      Novocain is a small white crystal and is also water soluble.       Novocain is also very light and it is air sensitive       Novocain is an alkaloid      It can be prepared pure or can be mixed with another solution .       Novocain is stable in air and is odorless.   5. Uses of Novocain • The main use of Novocain is in the dental industry. It is usually in injected by needle in to your gums and numbs the the area where it was injected. Besides the local anesthetic action, Novocain, when absorbed and injected direct into blood flow, has a general effect on the organism: reduces spasms of the smooth muscles, lowers the excitability of the cardiac muscle and of the cerebral cortex motor zones.

  7. Effects of Novocain • There really isn’t any side-effects to Novocain other than numbing your mouth • If you are allergic to Novocain it is very different. If novocain gets into your system your blood pressure might rise. You might collapse and go in to shock.
