Case study region: Emscher Landschaftspark • Industrial characterised landscape • planning concept • in reality Mosaic of green areas • regional park in Germany • area: 460km² (70km W-E,15km N-S) • 20 cities at/in the Emscher Landschaftspark • Inhabitants ca. 3,6 Mio • population density 1.200 E/km² • design in the framework of the International Building Exhibition Emscher Park 1989-99

Conclusion for EU COST WG2 • Results for the case study: • No policies and legal strategies exists nor for UA (i.e.food supply) • Urban agriculture has to play an important role in park mangement • A lot of stakeholders, but little networking and cooperation between them • Top-down models, but few bottom-up processesand • Related topics- agriculture, city planning, social and education… • Further steps needed: • Further developement of models for sustainable land management • Further development of regional park management • In cooperation with partners design and realisation of projects • Stronger networking is needed i.e. between farmers and planners
