SUNY Poly Civil Engineering Technology Program • Program offering a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology • Accredited by ETAC-ABET • Main feeder schools are Community Colleges and Colleges of Technology in New York State • Mohawk Valley Community College • Hudson Valley Community College • Broome Community College • Approximately 70 students

  3. Mission Statement Provide quality undergraduate studies in civil engineering technology. Encourage academic and intellectual achievement of the highest quality and the technical competencies inherent to the field of civil engineering technology. Integrate these elements in a coherent program of higher learning.

Faculty • Lawrence Dunn, PE 20 years experience in structural field SUNY Poly – 20 years M.Eng. in Civil Engr., RPI, Troy • Mark Mattson, PE 13 years experience in structural, construction administration field SUNY Poly – 2 years M.S. in Civil Engr., SUNY Buffalo • Jayne Baran, PE 10 years experience in transportation field SUNY Poly – 21 years M.S. in Civil Engineering, University of Washington, Seattle Adjuncts (C&S Engineers, NYSDOT, Shumaker Engineering, Retired NYSDOT)

  8. Transfer Credit • An individual Program of Study is done for each student • A maximum of 76 credits of lower division work may transfer • Additional transfer credit may be granted for coursework at a 4-year institution and for upper-division coursework

  9. Graduation Requirements • Students are ultimately responsible for graduation requirements • Graduation requirements are found in the undergraduate catalog (now online) • We highly recommend you see your advisor before you register for classes

  11. Three Emphases (2 courses) • Structural - Concrete Design - Steel Design • Transportation - Transportation Analysis - Highway Design • Construction - Construction Estimating and Scheduling - Construction Administration

GENED requirements • Math • Science • Social Science • American History • Western Civilization • Other World Civilizations • Humanities • Arts (assumed waiver) • Foreign Language (assumed waiver) • Basic Communication Note: Math, Science & Communication required. Must complete 4 of the remaining 7. HIS 306 or 370 count towards 5 and 6.
