  1. DOWNLOADAND SETUP ALEXA APP

  2. ECHO DOT SETUP  If you have just bought a new Alexa Echo Dot device, you must be wondering how to do the Echo Dot Setup and start using it. Thankfully, the setup process is fairly simple and most of it is automated so that you don't have to do much work. What you need to start with the setup process is a working internet connection with wifi, your mobile device and the product bundle that comes with your Alexa device

  4. UNPACKYOURECHODOT  The first thing to do is unpack your device and ensure that you have a charging cable and adapter and a user guide along with the device. It is a good idea to start charging your device when you unpack so that you can start your Alexa setup. If your device runs out of battery when you are in the middle of the echo dot setup, you may have to start the process all over again.

  6. ECHODOTSETUP  Place the device at least 1 foot away from any windows or walls when you are setting it up for the first time. When the device has charged for at least 5 minutes, then you can switch it on with the power button. As the device starts the light ring on top of the device will turn blue with a spinning light cyan color.

  8. GETALEXAAPP  While the device is starting, take your mobile device and install the Amazon Alexa App. This is a crucial step in setting up your device. If you are an Android user, then you can download the app from the play store. If you use an iOS device, then you need to visit the app store to install the Alexa App. Once you have installed the app, you will need to login to the Amazon Alexa Appusing your login credentials. If you do not have an account, you can create one through an easy sign-up process.

ADDNEWDEVICE  Once you have downloaded the Alexa App and installed it on your mobile device, you are almost ready to finish your Alexa setup.Open your Alexa Amazon app and go to the settings tab. Over there you should be able to see a button to add a new device. Click on the button an automatically populated list will show up which should have your device in it. If the list is not showing your device, check if it has started correctly.

  12. CONNECTECHOTOWIFI  Once you see the device, connect it to your phone through the Amazon Alexa App and then go to the device settings. You can add your WiFi connection to complete the Echo Dot Setup. The light ring on the device will turn orange when it is connecting to the WiFi. Once the device is connected to the internet, you can start using it.

  13. ALEXAISREADYTOUSE Use the wake word to activate the device and start giving it instruction. The default wake word for your echo dot is usually 'Alexa'. When you say 'Alexa', the light ring should turn blue and will point towards you with a Cyan color. Your device is now ready to use.
