  3. Devoirmust, should • PC – had to verb, must have verbed Ex. Nous avonsdûregarder le feuilleton. We had to watch the soap opera. Ex. Il a dûoublier. He must have forgotten. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPARFAIT – was supposed to, used to have to Ex. Les élèvesdevaient lire le journal tous les jours. The students were supposed to read the newspaper everyday. Ex. Il devait faire ses devoirs le soir. He used to have to do his homework in the evening.
