He must have forgotten. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPARFAIT – was supposed to, used to have to Ex. Les élèvesdevaient lire le journal tous les jours. The students were supposed to read the newspaper everyday. Ex. Il devait faire ses devoirs le soir. He used to have to do his homework in the evening.
