  2. What We Propose… • We want to create an interactive planetarium for Northwest Arkansas to enhance the educational experience for families in our community.

What is a Planetarium? • “A planetarium is a place we expose our community to amazing events of exploration of our universe, and try to place mundane activities of human existence in a greater context.” • “A planetarium is a place they discover the sky, and become encouraged to make new friends of the constellations, friends that will be there for entire lifetimes.” • Martin Ratcliffe

  4. Why Do We Need a Planetarium? • To provide our community with an educational experience that includes viewing accurate images of the sparkling night sky.

  5. What Benefits Will It Offer? • Provide our children with a multi-media experience with slides, videos, visual effects, computer animations, narration, and music that will enlighten the wonders of the cosmos.

  6. What Would it Include? • Constellation Story Hour • Light Shows • Interactively Connecting Stars to Create Constellations • Outer space Virtual Tours • Lectures on Science

  7. Workshops • Location of the stars • Star Myths of the Greeks • Planetary Identification • Galileo and Newton’s Contributions

  8. Activities • Mobile of the solar system project • Star Activity • Astrology History

  9. How Can This Benefit the Children? • Have a safe place for children to learn and grow. • To have an educational and fun experience that is beneficial for the whole family. • To help the children explore the wonders of outer space without out having to leave there neighborhood.

  10. Where Would It Go? • NWA Children’s Museum in Bentonville, AR (coming soon)

  12. How Will We Make It Happen? • Host Fundraisers • Create a mailing list to send out newsletters • Contact Architects • Create Funding Strategies • Opening Budget • Mission Statement for the Bentonville Chamber of Commerce

  13. Options To Get Funding • Apply for a non-profit organization title • Apply for Grants • Contact local businesses for sponsorships
