Enhancements in Monitoring Systems for Grid Technology

This update highlights the completion of the monitoring information publishing development, including an agreed message format with the ES group and Gridview team. Key features implemented include message transfers for start and end events, along with periodic status message summaries. The DPM/LFC system has been expanded with Nagios probes in beta testing, providing performance insights from parsed logs. The SAM infrastructure has transitioned to production, consolidating local systems. Finally, evaluations of messaging solutions, including ActiveMQ, have been carried out to enhance WLCG services.

  1. Monitoring in GT (Update) David Collados

FTS • Completed the development of publishing of monitoring information to messaging • Message format agreed with ES group and the Gridview team • One message transfer start • One message on transfer end • Periodic status messages with stats summary • Prototype deployed, ES working on consumer • Scheduled for FTS pilot end of Sept Presentation Title - 2

SAM • Moved SAM infrastructure into production • based on Nagios, messaging & new DB • Moved ACE into production • replacing the GridView computation for WLCG (HEP VOs being validated) • Consolidated our local infrastructure • Nightly builds, pre-prod & prod instances • 2nd level support in GGUS by EGI Monitoring in GT - 4

Messaging • Performed technical evaluation of the messaging solutions suitable for EMI • In depth testing of ActiveMQ to improve the service for WLCG • Contract with FuseSource renegotiated • In collaboration with PES-PS, started two dedicated messaging services • Atlas DDM (tracer service, notifications) • Dashboard (FTS, Ganga, DIANE, …) Monitoring in GT - 5
