  2. The 4 Year Plan • The 4 year plan takes into consideration: • OPHS Graduation Requirements • Post secondary school requirements • Interests and abilities / Majors program • Academic motivation and skills • NCAA requirements (if applicable)

  3. OPHS Graduation Requirements • Admiring his trofee by SuperMom2Boys. • 4 years English • 3.5 years history • ½ year health • 3 years science • 3 years math (geometry) • 1/2 year computer • ½ year practical skills • ½ year life skills • 2 years PE • 1 year visual performing art

  4. PE requirement • A semester sport played in 10th grade can replace a semester of PE • Sports that begin after second semester begins (in Feb) may not replace PE – • GIRLS – softball, track • BOYS – volleyball, tennis, track, lacross and golf

  5. UC and CSU system How does the UC and CSU determine eligibility? • 1. Completion of the required UC "a-g" Subject List in high school; • 2. The GPA earned in "a-g" courses taken in the 10th and 11th grades; • 3. Scores on standardized tests, including the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT (with Writing), plus two SAT Subject Tests for UC’s (in two different subject areas).

  6. College Requirementsa-g • A. History/Social Science – 2 years required •  B. English - 4 years of college-preparatory •  C. Mathematics – 3 years required, 4 years recommended. Must complete Algebra II or Intermediate Algebra CP. •  D. Laboratory Science – 2 years required, 3 years recommended – including: biology and chemistry. •  E. Language Other than English –2 years - Reach level II • F. Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) – 1 year required  • G. College Preparatory Electives – 1 year required

  7. College Grade requirements • Students may not earn a D or F in any college prep course

  8. The Majors Program • Focus on a career interest • Take “major” courses • Internship • Community service • “Major” on diploma • College application

  9. Zangle and Naviance • Use your Zangle password to access grades and assignments • Naviance – Use your password to assess your skills and career interests • Search for colleges that fit your interests and academic achievement level. • Look for scholarships • Apply to colleges on line
