  6. Dynamics of BG CERN Industrial Supply andIndustrial Service contracts 2000-2011 (in CHF) by types of Industrial Supply and Industrial Service • fall up of 2007-9: very low return coeff • lack of structural diversity • no presentation of BG traditional sectors (IT, CE) • one of best service return coefficient • positive from 2011 – highest divercity – 6 positions • participation in as minimum two 2012 tenders

  7. Dynamics of BG CERN Industrial Supply and Industrial Service contracts 2000-2011 (in CHF)

  8. An analysis of a set of 15 recent tenders organised fully in 2012 (MS, IT and tender procedure belong to 2012 – from March to July) shows the following (see table 2 below): Bulgaria is in a good position for selected and success rate vs consulted firms. More than, taking into account some tender procedures not finished till now (in such case there are 2 selected), Bulgaria is in a middle position among low group of countries with selected from 0 to 4 firms; the same are 6 other countries.

  9. Background and Problems • Dynamics of CERN programme and of CERN industrial supply and service contracts portfolio • Dynamics of CERN transfer of knowledge, technology, innovations and education • Matching of structure of Bulgarian industry and CERN industrial supply and service contracts portfolio • Human resources problems in Industry, Research and Education in Bulgaria, especially complex languages skills. • Dynamics of Bulgarian industry structure • Diversification of Bulgarian participation, especially towards contracts of type 4, 2 an1 (Computers …, Electrical …, Civil engineering …) • Not balanced economical interest and technological potential • Economic crisis

The deceased academician Matey Mateev, one of the pioneers of scientific collaboration of Bulgaria and CERN, said in one of his recent interviews: “My great dream is to see and to be the witness that Bulgarian teachers and scientists have the opportunity to work in a favorable and friendly environment, free from the everyday existence concerns. Only then I’ll could be feel secure about the future of my country and its daughters and sons.”
