When two quantum dots are connected in parallel to external leads, the conductance through the system at different temperatures is affected by the proximity to a quantum phase transition. The transition separates a magnetic ‘local moment’phase from the non-magnetic exotic Kondo phase. Conductance as a function of applied voltage to one of the dots for various temperatures. L. Education: The mini-workshop on “Numerical techniques in many-body systems’ that took place in OU, brought together the US members of this collaboration in June 2007. Luis Dias da Silva during his exposition on NRG methods. The workshop was organized by ‘travelling postdoc’ Carlos Büsser who talked about ECA methods. Profs. Ingersent, Martins, Sandler and Ulloa were joined by postdoctoral researchers Luis Dias da Silva and Carlos Büsser during 3 days of presentations and intensive discussions.
