  1. THE IMPORTANCE OF EARTHING COPPER WIRE SYSTEMS

  2. Grounding, also called earthing is the process of providing a connection path to all parts in an electrical installation to the earth. During the earthing process, metallic components such as the stay wire, metallic casing, end terminals of the cable armour etc., don’t carry current and are therefore linked to an earth conductor or electrode which is buried into moist earth.

  3. A thick metal that has low resistance is preferred for safety purposes. In some cases, the neutral portion of the power scheme is also linked to the earth to avoid unforeseen dangers that may occur during electrical energy discharge. Earthing copper wires play a significant role in this procedure.

  4. How are earthing copper wires used? Earthing strips or plates along with copper wires are used to create a safety connection to the earth. Have you ever felt an electrical shock when touching your fridge or wall? This occurs due to a poor earthing system. Earthing copper wires provide a substitute path for electric current to flow towards the ground. This prevents electrical shock. The entire earthing process ensure that all metallic components in an electrical system are grounded.

  5. Why is earthing important? Earthing is conducted mainly to minimize accidents and unfortunate incidents such as electric shocks and fire which may occur due to current leakage via an unsought path. Sometimes the metal components in an electrical appliance can come into contact with a live wire, which may occur due to poor cable insulation or electrical installation. In either case the charge builds up in the metal components and if a person touch’s this particular appliance they might receive a severe shock.

  6. The intensity of this shock might be so severe that it interferes with the electrical activity of the heart causing it to fail; leading to sudden death. Unfortunate incidents like these can be avoided using proper earthing techniques with copper wires. This ensures that electrical charges are given a path into the earth.
