  1. July 13th – 18th 2014 KS3 Visit to France Paris and environs

  2. Departure • Please be at B&Q carpark at 23:30 on Sunday 13th July for a departure at midnight! • We need to be at Dover by 7 am for the 7:30 am Dover-Calais ferry crossing.

  3. Boarding • Do not board the coach until given permission from staff. • 1 piece of hand luggage 1 suitcase or travel bag to put on the coach. • You are responsible for loading your suitcase into the boot of the coach. • Keep money and medicines in your hand luggage.

  4. Comfort! • 14 hours travelling! • Loose comfortable clothing. • Pillow…zzz…

  5. Getting bored? • Entertainment – magazines, books, an MP3 player, travel games, puzzle books. • Bring valuable gadgets at your own risk!

  6. Food • You will need food and drink for the journey too – packed breakfast and lunch. • Drinks are best bought in either screw-top or ‘sports cap’ type lids. • Fizzy, canned drinks are not recommended.

  7. Weather • The weather is similar to here – go prepared for anything! • At this time of year it is usually quite hot, so bring sun cream and a sun hat. • A waterproof coat and a warm jumper are also essential!

  8. Getting about • Appropriate footwear. • High-heeled shoes are no good on cobbles; cobbled streets are common!

  9. Road Safety • Traffic on the right hand side of the road. • Take care at zebra crossings. • Always obey traffic lights.

  10. Mobile phones • Not forbidden! • Responsibility • Cost • Homesickness

  11. Accommodation • PGL activity centre • Regularly caters for school groups. • Be considerate of other school groups.

  12. Rooms • Bring own towels & soap. • Staff on same floor. • Lights out 10 pm. Lock the door. Do not leave your room. • You are responsible for the cleanliness of your room. • External doors secured at 11pm. PGL staff on duty 24 hours. St

  13. Rooms • 2 rooms with 6 boys • 1 room with 5 boys • 2 rooms with 7 girls • 2 rooms with 6 girls • All rooms have bath/ shower and WC. Decide on who you would like to share your room with! Rooming will be decided on Friday, during the afternoon meeting in room 2!

  14. Meals • Buffet breakfast • Packed lunch • Two course evening meal.

  15. Meals • Plenty of choice • Try what is on offer! • Cultural experience. • Be polite!

  16. Pocket Money 1 • Spending money - for snacks / drinks during the day and for presents. • £50 in Euros (63 Euros), and £10 in Sterling should be plenty.

  17. Pocket Money 2 • Small notes please! • Suggested daily amount. • Kept by Mr Jenkins and issued daily at breakfast. • Any coins from previous trips? 10/20 cents for toilet stops.

  18. Illness • Emergency First Aid kits. • Other basic medication – Consent form essential. • Personal medication clearly labelled with name and dosage, and handed in to Team Leader at departure. • Asthma? bring an inhaler for yourself AND a spare, labelled inhaler for your leader.

  19. Insurance • Fogg Travel Insurance Services (PGL) • Take a personal insurance for your own belongings (eg. Mobile phones)

  20. Safety • Travel • Coach • Ferry/ boat trip • CODE OF CONDUCT • Accommodation ROOMS / KEYS FIRE, STRANGERS • Unsupervised time. Groups of 4 or more. • Or risk having to stay with us all day!

  26. Wednesday • Day sightseeing in Paris • Montparnasse Tower • Eiffel Tower • Cruise on Les Bateaux Parisiens • Notre Dame • Champs Elysées

  28. Friday • Leave straight after breakfast • Hypermarket visit on way to Calais • Ferry departs at 15.30 • Arrival at Dover at 16.00 • Expected arrival at B&Q is 10 pm
