  2. Who was Von Bismarck? • A male • Born on April 1, 1815 • AKA: • -Otto Eduardo • -Prince of Bismarck • -Duke of Lauenburg • First Chancellor of German empire

  3. Accomplishments • Prime minister of Prussian from 1862-1873 • Chancellor of Germany from 1871-1890 • Ambassador to Russia and later ambassador to France

  4. What did he do? • Bismarck unified many small German states into one big German empire • He promoted the well being of workers in order to keep the German economy operating at maximum efficiency

  5. What did he do? • In War of 1866, successfully defeated Austria and also won Franco-German war in 1871- both wins were in order to help unify Germany as a whole • Single-handedly led “Revolutionary Conservatism” • Was a her in the eyes of the Germans because he put them on top and helped them come together as one of the biggest nations in the world

  6. What did he do? • He led the administrative reforms, in which he developed a common currency, a central bank, and a single code of commercial and civil law all for Germany • He also was the first person to come up with a scheme to counter the Social Democrats, trying to make life better for the workers • Became a master of foreign affairs and presided over the Congress of Berlin

  7. Impact • Without Otto Von Bismarck doing what he did, we would have never have Germany be who they are today. He helped them come together as a country while he was the Prime Minister of Prussia and became their first Chancellor in 1817. He gave them a common currency and a common law, which helped all of the people get on the same page. Also, back in his time, he made Germany one of the biggest superpowers of the World in economic and political views.
