  2. PowerPoint II Page Setup • Select the Design Ribbon, and click ‘Page Setup’ to bring up the dialog • Set the slide size and orientation 2

PowerPoint II Advancing Slides Using Transitions • Slides can be advanced using either a mouse click or automatically • after a settable time • If you are speaking, it is better to use mouse clicks. If you get distracted • or have to take a question, slides will get out of coordination • Automatic transitions are good for photo shows 25

  26. PowerPoint II The Slide Show Ribbon • This Ribbon helps you set up or run a slide show • Slide shows can be started from the beginning or from the current slide • Narration can be added, and you can practice your speaking timing 26

  27. PowerPoint II Set Up Slide Show • On the Slide Show Ribbon, click the ‘Set Up Slide Show’ button • In the dialog, select the type of show, and whether to loop, or run • with or without narration or animations 27

  28. PowerPoint II Hiding a Slide in a Slide Show • Sometimes a presentation needs to be customized for a particular • audience. To minimize changes, slides can be hidden from the slide show • In the Slide Show Ribbon, click the ‘Hide Slide’ button • The slide number will be surrounded by a slashed box in the slide • miniatures and in the Slide Sorter view to show that it will be hidden 28

  29. PowerPoint II Recording a Narration • Click the ‘Record Narration’ button to bring up the dialog box • Plug in a microphone and click ‘OK’ to begin • If it will be long, consider linking the file to make the file size smaller 29

  30. PowerPoint II Rehearsing Slide Timings • Click the ‘Rehearse Timings’ button to set up a time for each slide • The ‘Rehearsal’ dialog appears. Click the right arrow to go to the next slide • Use the pause button if you are interrupted 30

  31. PowerPoint II Slide Show Resolution • Click the ‘Resolution’ label down arrow to set screen resolution • Experiment with this before giving the presentation 31

  32. PowerPoint II Presenter View • If you are presenting from a notebook computer to another screen, • you can use the ‘Presenter View’ • You will be able to see your notes and timings while you speak 32

PowerPoint II Slide Sorter View • To see all slides at once and to make it convenient to reorder them, • select the View Ribbon and click ‘Slide Sorter’ • Miniatures of all the slides will appear along with icons that indicate • whether the slide has animations, transitions, or timings or is hidden • To reorder slides, click and drag them to the correct location Slide is Hidden Slide is Animated 35

PowerPoint II Hyperlinks • Objects or text can be hyperlinked to enhance the presentation • On the Insert Ribbon, click the ‘Hyperlink’ button to bring up the dialog • If you link to a website, open the browser and minimize it before • beginning the presentation (shortens the reaction time) 40
