About the Survey • Texas Department of State Health Services and the Public Policy Research Institute at Texas A&M • Conducted in GCISD every two years since 1998 • Random sample of students in grades 6 – 12 • No Elementary Survey – 4th and 5th grade • Added Synthetic Marijuana, Methamphetamine and Prescription Drugs • Removed “Uppers” and “Downers” • English and Spanish • 60% Texas Public Schools participate • Margin of error +/- 3 percent

  3. 2014 Population Surveyed 10th Grade – 42 % 11th Grade – 38 % 12th Grade – 46 % 6thGrade – 40% 7th Grade – 41% 8th Grade – 44% 9thGrade – 43% Total Number of Students Surveyed 3,200 – 42%
