  3. General Registration Timeline February 1st – 23rd : Online registration through HAC. Your course requests are due by February 23, 2018. If you want to make a change to a LOCKED course, you must submit a course change request form by Feb. 23, 2018. http://www.scasd.org/courserequests Course selections snail-mailed home during early March for final review. March 14, 2018 – Last chance to change course selections with a signed permission form. ***** THESE ARE REQUESTS NOT YOUR SCHEDULE!!!!

  4. Timeline Continued…. August 1st – Schedules become available online with a 10 day window to submit schedule change requests. Schedule change submissions close on August 10th. Changes during this time are made within the constraints of the master schedule and therefore may not be fulfilled. Schedule changes are limited once school begins. *FRESHMEN ORIENTATION IN AUGUST*

Minimum Graduation Requirements • 4 credits each of English and Social Studies • 3 credits each of Science and Math • Physical Education 1.5 credits- required in 9th • Wellness in 9th and again in 11th/12th Grade • In-class Driver’s Education • Community Service (20 Hours) • Electives (8.25 credits) • Total of 25 credits

Possible Daily Schedule for 9th Grade DAY A DAY B 1.1-1.2 Math 5.1-5.2 World History 2.1-2.2 English 6.1 Band 6.2 Choir 3.1 LUNCH – 30 minutes 7.1 Science 3.2-3.3 Phys Ed 9(fall)/ Wellness 9 7.2 LUNCH – 30 minutes (spring) 7.3 Science 4.1-4.2 World Language (if 4-year 8.1-8.2 Elective(s) college bound) ** Minimum 6.5 credits required ** Maximum 8.0 credits Please see PAGE 8 in the Course Selection Guide for essential 9th grade scheduling guidelines!

How to Read the Guide S = Semester Class (Fall or Spring) .50 credit (half year class) Y= Year Long Class 1.0 credit (whole year class) V= Virtual Class Varies depending on course H= Hybrid Class B= Before School Class ** Please NOTE: Hybrid (H) and Before School (B) classes are not offered for 9th graders at this time * Prerequisites are not negotiable

Entering Requests: • Recommendations will be pre-loaded. • You can request up to 8.0 credits worth of classes, including Virtual courses (PE, Wellness 9 or Intro to Art History). • You must have at least 6.5 credits on your course requests. • You can enter Alternates (back-up choices) for all electives. It is not necessary to do this.

  20. Continued… • Changes to recommended courses require parent signature on the course recommendation change form (see your counselor or download it from the website). We encourage you to follow teacher recommendations. • To take a Virtual Flex Course during the summer (PE, Health or Driver’s Safety), you need to go to the SCASD Virtual School website: https://www.scasd.org/domain/132. There is a fee to take a summer virtual course. • Note- if you take a virtual class during the school year, there is no fee. These courses will count toward your 8.0 credit total.

  21. Remember… • Follow your teacher recommendations. • Talk with your 8th grade counselor if you have more questions. • Talk over your course selection with your parents/guardians. • You are building your high school transcript which will be used for college, job, military and scholarship opportunities. Grades count! • Get involved in clubs, sports and activities. • Remember- you are selecting your course requests, this is NOT YOUR SCHEDULE!! You will receive your actual schedule in August,so be sure to read your emails over the summer!!!
