Bell Work How To • Always LABEL you bell workwith the date. • You may use the same page for several of your bell works. • ALWAYS use at least THREE complete sentences to answer the question. • Save your bell work for bell work check in’s. • If you miss class, you may go onto Mrs V’s website to get the missed bell work question. It is YOUR responsibility to get the bell work completed.

  3. Bell Work #8 Music can “paint” a scene in a person’s mind. Imagine a scene you could create with music. Write a description of the scene, and explain the feeling you wish to communicate. What instruments would you use to create the image? Use three complete sentences.

  5. Today I will learn: • I will apply my knowledge of music notation and demonstrate my knowledge through creation of a musical idea.

  6. How to count music • 1. Note the time signature– How much can you count up to in each measure? • 2. Look at the notes & rests in each measure– what is their VALUE in 4/4 time, 3 / 4 , 2/4 ? • 3. Use “&” when counting. Ex. 1& 2& 3& 4& (Use a symbol, not the word and.) • 4. Start at the beginning: 1 and go from there– use the next logical number as you go up to 4 (or 3 or 2).

Application • Drumming worksheet #1. • You will create an eight measure piece of music to be played on a percussion instrument. • You may use: quarter notes, eighth notes, sixteenth notes, quarter rests, eighth rests, sixteenth rests, “the dot.” • You may use ONE whole note in your creation and TWO half notes in your creation. • You may NOT have two rests in a row– there needs to be notes in between.

  8. Exit: 3-2-1 • Use complete sentences • 1. Write down three things you found interesting about today’s lesson. • 2. Write down two things you learned. • 3. Write down one question you still have about today’s topic.
