  1. Two workshops organized at 11.06.2010 in Turkey. There were 27 teachers at the first workshop and 6 parents at the second workshop.

  2. Participants suggested to add “physical violence” as a definition of violence. They found realistic the results of the survey. They expressed that sexual abusement mostly exploited as orally and students agitate each other by separating themselves in groups.

  3. The most popular answer is “ outside of the school”. Participants commented “outside of the school” as the exit from the school place. Regarding to question “where violance mostly takes place”

  4. Generally students prefer outside of the school to improve punishing by a disciplinable offence. • It is also reported that the violence in internet mostly reveals in the games of the students.

  5. It was stated that silent children are more frequently exposed to violence ( such as taking their money under coercion). It is thought that over-selfconfident children are tended to violence,too.

  6. Typical characteristics of an assailant are described as “angry and nervous” by the survey respondents. It is expressed that due to the domestic violence, students perceive beating is something usual.

  7. behaviours such as contempt, taunt and humiliation are indicated as reasons. Participants think especially since children take TV characters as an example, they are more tended to violence. As a result of these surveys it was seen that the ‘cyber bullism’ among the students is significantly growing. Accordingtothequestionnaireresults,

  8. Teachers should be closer to the students. But teachers can not share enough time to the students due to the work load. Parents should care and exhibit their love. Exam system is very effective factor and that take a big part of their time so they can not spend time for social activities. These reasons and suggessions were presented regarding to prevent young people’s behaviours including violence:

  9. According to the parents, students are not aware that they are behaving in violence and they can not perceive that this is wrong. Parents think that virtual violence has big impact in this situation.

  10. Thesecaseswerealsostated as an example of virtualviolence: • Hacking facebook password. • Changing someone elses profile picture, • Misusing and abusing photographs there, • Unfavorable correspondence and talks, • Complaning on teachers by students .

Most frequent virtual violence cases are stated as : • Hacking-stealing password, • Increasing emotion of hatred in children, • Percieving violance as a usual and normal behaviour, • Decrease in moral values, • Becoming more tended to lie, • Degeneracy, • Slang habits, • Breaking communication between teacher-student-parents, • Increasing conflict and gap between generations.

  12. These sugessions were offered to prevent virtual violence between young people: • Enpowering intra-family communication, • Emposing and training consciousness computer using.

  13. Finally, participants stated that exam system should be questioned and revised.

  14. After the workshops, Menderes Province National Education Directorate prepared a new ‘Bullism Action Plan’ just like the National Education Ministry indicated.

  15. Based on signed “Protocol Concerning Cooperation in the reception of Protective and Preventive Measures To Ensure Safe Environment in Schools” between the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Education, “Police School Project” protocol designed between Ankara Security Directorate and the Directorate of National Education.

  16. Purpose of the Protocol: Protect our children all kinds of bad habits and ensure the training of individuals in good health in body and soul.

  17. The results obtained from Stop@Bullism project and activities of project are included in Menderes Town National Education Directorates’ strategy and action plan of reducing and prevention of violence in educational environments.

  18. The strategic objectives of action plan: 1.To get educational environments more secure through raising awareness of students 'and parents' about violence, virtual violence, the conscious use of the internet and cyber crimes.

  19. 2.Developing of a positive attitude and sense of responsibility of routing at risk students, through socio-cultural activities.

  20. For these purposes Strategy and Action Plan 2010-2011 Academic year was formed.

  21. Firstly,regarding to this plan132 teachers participated in the seminar “bullism-cyber bullism-cyber crimes”. • Assistant director of security informed the participants about the cyber crimes. • And the cyber bullism at schools was debated.The presentations were shared between the teachers.

  22. The participants were informed about the results of the project.

  23. At 34 schools 92 teachers gave seminars on the topic of“bullism-cyber bullism and cyber crimes”.

  24. 3364 students participated in the seminars.

  25. 477 parents participated in the seminars..

  26. The booklets prepared after these seminars were distinguished to schools.

  27. A drama with the subject of bullism was created, and performed at the city hall. • Teachers, parents and 1470 students watched this drama.
