  4. Monday: Review • Think.Pair.Share. Journal title: Othello Discussion • All of the characters in the play seem to like Iago through most of the play. Why? • Which minor character is the most important to the play? Explain why. • Do you think the relationship between Othello and Desdemona is realistic? Explain why or why not. • Why do you think Othello killed Desdemona? • Suppose Emilia had told Desdemona about the handkerchief. What effect could that have had on future events in the play? • Crossword vocab – these are the only words that will be on the final test! • Notebook title: Othello All Vocab • Write the word and definition for each word.

  6. Tuesday: Othello • Review Act IV quiz and irony & puns. • Jeopardy! • Create skits using at least 3 of the words in the crossword. • The skit with the most used words, the most creative/understandable, will receive 5 points. Don’t forget No Fear Shakespeare!

  8. Wednesday: Act V • Rewrite Act V! Go over directions and rubric. • Note: If you’re not comfortable mimicking Shakespearean language, that’s OK! Made it a modern version.  • Today focus on pre-writing and planning. • 1st draft (at least 4 pages) due by Tuesday. • Review frequently used vocabulary. Also, try and use as many vocabulary words from this unit as you can!

  10. Thursday: Themes in Groups • For your assigned theme, go through each act and select lines or passages to illuminate its issue. Write the page number, the quote and an explanation on how the quote relates to the issue. • Create a presentation with images (poster** OR images found online) and at least 1 quote per Act with explanation that illustrates your theme. • Be prepared to present tomorrow! **Late HW passes for the group(s) that create a well-thought out and neat poster for my room besides their PPT/Prezi. 

Thursday: Themes in Groups Asho, Tume& Muna: • The pathology (set of features, characteristics, impact on others, etc.) of the evil person Saadiyo, Ruweida & Yusuf • Building and destroying reputations in the play Sammy, Siham, Sahro & Faisa: • The role of racism and sexism throughout the play

  14. Friday: Theme Presentations • Any questions about the test on Monday? Questions on the rewrite of Act V due Tuesday? • Present! Take notes on presentations. • Journal title: Reflection on Themes • How did the theme work help you understand the play better? • What new information or insight did you get from researching and hearing about the different themes?

  15. Hot Seat • Designated “hot seat” in front of the room. 2 minutes to ask the seated person any question in a rapid-fire succession. The hot seat member is allowed to say “pass” for any too personal questions — avoid asking anything too personal, as it can ruin the fun. Sample questions: • “What would you do if you won the lottery?” • “If you could meet and have dinner with any person who ever lived, who would it be and why? What would you ask that person?” • “What three words would you use to describe yourself?” • Questions can be funny, too, such as: • “What was your most embarrassing moment?” • “What was your proudest moment?” • “What was the silliest thing you’ve ever done?”
