  1. 1. You are having a party to celebrate the end of school. You decide to serve pizza. You and each of your guests will eat 1/3 of a pizza. If you invite 5 friends, how much pizza will you need for you and your friends? Simply your answer.

  2. 2. If you want to bake cookies for your party, you will have to triple your recipe. The original recipe calls for ½ cup flour and ¼ cup sugar. How much flour will you need? How much sugar will you need? Simplify your answer.

  3. 3. You’ve decided to have a pinata at your party. Of course you want each guest to get plenty of candy. If you would like each guest to get 2/5 pounds of candy, how many pounds of candy will you need all 6 of you to get this amount? Simplify.

  4. 4. Your party will last 2-1/2 hours. You’ve planned to spend 1/5 of the time eating, 1/3 of the time swimming, and the rest of the time playing games. How many minutes do you spend doing each of the activities?

  5. 5. You bought three 12-packs of sodas. After the party, you collect the leftover sodas and realize you have four-ninths of the sodas left. How many sodas did you and your friends drink?

  6. 6. Your party cost $45. You offer to use your allowance to help pay for the party. Your mom agrees to let you pay for 2/5 of the party. How much will you pay?
