  2. 4.OA Operations and Algebraic Thinking • Use the 4 operations with whole numbers to solve problems • Interpret multiplication equation as a comparison • Multiply or divide to solve word problems • Solve multistep word problems posed with whole numbers and having whole-number answers using the 4 operations • Find all factor pairs for a whole number • Determine whether a given whole number is prime or composite • Generate or shape pattern that follows a given rule

  3. Examples of 4.0A • There are 28 white ducks swimming in a pond. • Twice as many brown ducks flew in and landed in the pond. • Then half of the white ducks flew away. How many ducks remained in the pond?

Number and Operations in Base Ten 4.NBT • Place value up to 100,000; use place value understanding to round multi-digit whole numbers to any place • Read and write multi-digit whole numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form • Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers • Multiply whole numbers of up to 4 digits by one-digit and multiply 2 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers • Find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to 4 digit dividends and 1 digit divisors

For example: know that 1ft is 12 times as long as 1in • Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money

Measurement and Data 4.MD continued. . . • Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems • Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, ¼, 1/8). Solve problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions by using information presented in line plots. • Recognize angles as geometric shapes that are formed wherever two rays share a common endpoint, and understand concepts of angle measurement

Measurement and Data 4.MD continued. . . • An angle is measured with reference to a circle • An angle that turns through n one-degree angles is said to have an angle measure of n degrees • Measure angles in whole-number degrees using a protractor • Recognize angle measure as additive. Solve addition and subtraction problems to find unknown angles on a diagram in real world and mathematical problems

  15. Measurement and Data 4.MD Examples • Sue has 10 gallons of water. How many quarts of water does she have? a. 10 b. 20 c. 30 d. 40 • The sum of the measures of the three angles in a triangle is 180 degrees. What is the measure of one angle in an equilateral triangle?

  16. Geometry 4.G • Draw points, lines, line segments, rays, angles (right, acute, obtuse), and perpendicular and parallel lines. Identify these in 2 dimensional figures. • Classify 2 dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines. • Recognize a line of symmetry for a 2 dimensional figure as a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts.
