  2. The history of legal systems is connected to the development of civilization. Rules are enforced to maintain safety and fairness. What rules would YOU adopt?

  3. We expect what we read in the newspaper is not plagiarized or fabricated. We expect integrity in our society. We expect that the surgeon operating on us did not cheat in med school

  4. At the University of Maryland, all students are expected to act with honor. Committing to acting with honor means that you commit yourself to acting ethically and with integrity in all of your endeavors both inside and outside of the classroom.

  5. Research shows that people who cheat in high school are likely to cheat in college, and those who cheat in college are likely to act unethically in their jobs. Ethical behavior is looked for in the work place. Those who do not uphold standards of integrity will most likely fail to advance in in their careers.

  7. -In the most recent reporting period (June 1, 2011 – May 31, 2012), the academic conduct caseload totaled 374 new referrals, an 8% decrease from last year, but still up 33% from two years ago. -The percentage of students found responsiblefor, or who admitted to, violating the Code of Academic Integrity remains high at 76%. -The XF was applied in 128 of the cases in which students were found responsible.

  8. Cheating intentionally using or attempting to use unauthorized materials, information, or study aids in any academic exercise. Plagiarism intentionally or knowingly representing the words or ideas of another as one’s own in any academic exercise. Fabrication intentional and unauthorized falsification or invention of any information or citation in an academic exercise. Facilitation intentionally or knowingly helping or attempting to help another to violate any provision of this Code.
