  1. What is Truvada? Truvada is an antiretroviral medication used for the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS and created by Gilead Sciences, Inc. Truvada has two main medicinal components called emtricitabine (FTC) and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) which are used to treat patients that are infected with HIV or used as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to protect individuals who have not yet been exposed to the virus but are at a high risk of being infected.
