  3. LED's Explained An LED or Light Emitting Diode, is a small electronic semiconductor that turns electricity into light. Different chemical compounds are used within the structure of the LED to result in different colours, power efficiency and brightness. Unlike regular incandescent lightbulbs, LED's have no filaments that can fail or burn out. LED's can be illuminated on their own such as lightboxes and downlights, or they can be programmed with variable displays and animations using a combination of software and electronic sending and receiving cards as used in media wall displays. Depending on the type of LED module used, the display can be scrolling text, full colour images or full colour video displays.   4. Pixels Explained LED displays are made up of smaller panels that are called modules. Modules are available in numerous sizes and combinations depending on the application, and can be designed for indoor or waterproof to IP65 for outdoor use. LED modules consist of pixels or individual LED clusters. Pixels can be a single colour, or multiple colours but from the viewing distance, are seen as one point of light. Pixels are illuminated together to make up letters, images, animation or video. In a media display, pixels can be turned on or off independantly of each other and can be assigned different brightness values. http://www.creationsgroup.com.au

  5. PitchExplained The pixel pitch is the distance between the centre of two adjacent pixels on an LED module. The smaller the pitch, the closer the LED's are to each other, the higher the visible resolution of the screen or display which results in a sharper image. The smaller the pitch also means the smaller the required viewing distance. As an example, large LED billboard displays would have a much larger pixel pitch and would be viewed from a much longer distance than a retail LED window display which would have a much smaller pitch and can be viewed from much closer distances. http://www.creationsgroup.com.au

Communication options Explained Depending on the location, type, application and personal requirements of the LED display, we can organise the communication method that best suits your requirements and budget. A summary of different methods we use is below: Serial Cable (RS-232): This method uses a 9 pin serial cable that is connected directly from the controlling computer to the serial port on the receiving card of the display. This is the most economical method but is not ideal as the computer needs to be directly connected to the LED display when uploading media content. http://www.creationsgroup.com.au
