What is Nexus • Nexus is a personal learning environment (PLE) developed by CIT. • It is a space for you to view what’s important to you at a glance, • With it, you are able to easily and quickly • Access, aggregate, configure and manipulate digital entities • Build your own needs based learning space • Extend your learning beyond traditional systems • Incorporate your social activities with your learning Confidential

  3. How do I access Nexus? Open your web browser In the address bar, type http://nexus.nus.edu.sg Login using your NUSNET UserID and password

  6. Easy Search • Multiple search engineshave been pre-loaded into your space • You can perform searches directed to these search engines straight from your space Confidential

  8. Commands • Messages – Shows you the list of messages which have been sent to you. Includes your password expiry • Support – Brings you to the support page • Logout – Logs you out of the system Confidential

  10. Customization • Clicking on menu gives you the various customization options • You can browse for and add new widgets to your tabs • You can change the layout for the tab • You can add RSS feeds to your tab Confidential

Tabs • You can associate a tab with widgets that you feel is related to it. • Drag and drop any tab to reorder your tabs • Click on an inactive tab to switch focus to the tab • Click on an active tab to edit the tab name • Click on the arrow beside the tab to expose other tab functions Confidential

  14. Widgets • These are the main information unit. • Different widgets provide different information. • Drag and drop any widget to reorder them • Click on the widget footer to toggle widget size • Click on the pencil icon to view widget functions Confidential

  19. Sharing of Tabs Confidential

Sharing of Tabs • You have the ability to share a tab you have created with other users. • Sharing of tab is a 3 step process • Input the people you want to share the tab with • Set their permissions • Confirm and submit • Click on the arrow beside the tab you want to share and click “Share Tab” Confidential

  21. Sharing of Tabs – Step 1 • Start by entering the userid or emails of the people whom you want to share the tab with. • Click “Next >” once you have added the users Confidential

  22. Sharing of Tabs – Step 2 • There are 2 ways of giving permission, using the simple version which lets you give them read, read & write or all rights • Or you can go for the detailed permissions • Click “Next >” once you are done Confidential

  23. Sharing of Tabs – Step 3 • You can change the Email subject and body • You can also change the name of the users • Click “Finish” to complete the tab sharing and Nexus will notify them Confidential

  25. Modification of Shares • Once you have shared the tab, you can click on “Share Tab” again to modify the tab’s share permissions. • From here you can • Update user’s access permissions • Remove users from the share • Share to more users Confidential
