  1. Youth Unemployment In Greece By: Thomas B and Jay G

  2. Our claim • Youth unemployment in Greece is rising each year and it needs to be stopped before it creates a bigger problem.

  3. How is this affecting Greece? • Since youth unemployment rates are rising more of the youth do not have jobs. This also causes more youth to go homeless because they have no money. Riots also break out sometimes about it.

  4. Riot in Athens Greece In Athens Greece a huge riot breaks out between the youth and the government because of youth unemployment rates.

  5. The Problem • The jobs crisis is affecting almost six million young people who are out of work, with countries like Greece experiencing rates of youth unemployment of more than 50 per cent. • The region, located in northern Greece, has been hit hard by the economic crisis, with total unemployment rising from 12.1pc in 2007 to almost 30pc in 2012

  6. Europe youth unemployment chart In Europe one of the places with the highest youth unemployment rate is Greece shown by this chart.

  7. Why Is This Happening • Some of the problem comes from de-industrialization and the migration of labor intensive industries to neighboring countries, where wage demands are lower. • Another reason is that the unemployment rate is rising is because of the country's debt crisis that emerged in 2009.
